about me
Born in Drogheda, County Louth, I now reside in the sticks in Monasterboice. With the dry stone walls and windswept fields it’s about as close to being in the West of Ireland without actually being there. You can’t beat the silence on a calm day or the darkness on a clear night. I love it here, apart from the mucky roads!
A great wife, 2 class kids, 3 annoying dogs, 2 cats (one old sweetheart and one young lunatic) home life can be busy but massively enjoyable. A lover of all things tech I like stuff that just works and works well! Hence my love of Canon and Apple products. I’ll get into that again on another page!
Speaking of being busy… I work in Mahers Photographic selling camera equipment, printing and handling their website amongst many other things. I also work a day a week with McKevitt King Architects in Drogheda helping with their website, photography, social platforms and other general marketing duties. Recently I also started to handle the social platforms for McAuley Kitchens in Drogheda. So yes being busy is certainly something that keeps me ticking!
experience
My interest in architectural photography came from working in an award winning architectural practice for almost 20 years. From working with McGarry Ni Eanaigh Architects I gained an understanding of the processes used by architects and designers. This experience and understanding ensures that each project is executed according to the goals and brief of the client. After a 5 year hiatus from being directly involved within the architecture world I returned on a part time basis to work with McKevitt King Architects to handle their marketing, social media and photographic needs!
Over the years I have had my work in various publications and journals from national and local newspapers to International Architectural and Construction Journals and magazines including Architecture Ireland, Perspective Magazine, The Architects Journal, A10 Magazine, Plan Magazine and many others.
camera club
I have been a member of Mid-Louth Camera Club for more than 15 years. Within that time I have been a committee member, secretary and chairman. I have various club and national certificates and awards for my work at camera club level and am an Associate of the Irish Photographic Federation. In 2012 I won the best Colour print and best overall image in the IPF National Print and projected Image Finals. In 2008 one of my images was selected by Magnum President, Stuart Franklin as one of 30 from 10,500 submitted to be exhibited at the annual ‘Les Recontres D’Arles Photographie’ in Arles, France.
I have also acted as an individual competition judge for some of the top camera clubs in Ireland. I have lectured in photography and in photo manipulation and am passionate about sharing this knowledge with clubs or individuals on a one to one basis.
