UCD Village Building

UCD sought a masterplan for student residences to increase on campus bedspaces to 5,000 and to knit the various existing residential clusters into a cohesive community for a connected student experience. UCD was granted permission for 2,178 residences and the Student Hub UCD Village, a scheme which strategically links the Main Campus to this new development through a series of interconnected landscaped pedestrian walkways and transport routes.

Phase 1 of the UCD Student Residences were completed in September 2021 and represents the first stage of a masterplan for UCD Students Living on campus, which consists of 924 Student Bedspaces accommodated in 2 Blocks totaling approx. 25,000sqm over 5-7 stories. The Main Student Hub otherwise know as UCD Village was completed in September 2022 and consists of a  290 seater Auditorium/Lecture/ Performance Space, as well as seating for 300  in a market style food hall and gallery area. This offers a variety of seating styles, and private niches to allow both collaborative and solitary study.

The Village also houses a Convenience Store, 3no. Retail Units, a Bank, Gym, Dance/Performance Studio’s, and Student Wellness  and Contact Centre. With a focus on providing amenity for students, the scheme provides expansive seated and study spaces and defined zones of interaction – external play and exercise, bookable spaces, dining and breakouts spaces. UCD Village is a pivotal section of the masterplan, designed to foster integration and connectivity to the main campus and to the existing residences of Merville and Roebuck.
